The coast,
seen properly

The Amalfi Coast was made to be seen from the sea. The cliffs that look intimidating from the road become coves and grottoes when you approach them by water — Praiano's hidden beaches, the Emerald Grotto, the cathedral of Amalfi rising from the harbour.

This is a full day from Sorrento or Positano, eastward along the cliffs as far as Amalfi, with anchor stops at Li Galli, Nerano, the cove behind Praiano. Lunch on the water or at Da Adolfo (we book ahead). The light is best in the late afternoon on the way back.

The day is built around stops, not ground covered. Three to four anchor moments, plenty of swims, and a captain who knows where the day-trip boats won't follow.

Pick-up from Sorrento or directly from Positano if that's where you're staying. Brief introduction with the captain, drinks on board.

Li Galli & Nerano

First swim past Li Galli, the small archipelago between the Sorrentine peninsula and the Amalfi Coast. Calmer water, fewer boats.
11:30

Positano from the water

Approaching Positano by sea is the way it was meant to be seen. Slow pass below the pastel houses, anchor for photos and a swim.

Lunch — Da Adolfo or on board

Two options: ashore at Da Adolfo (we book ahead, it's the institution), or anchor in a quiet bay and have lunch on board with a private chef on request.

Praiano, Furore & the Emerald Grotto

East along the coast — the fjord at Furore, the village of Praiano, the Emerald Grotto if conditions allow. Two more swims in coves only reachable by sea.

Amalfi cathedral from the harbour

A pause off Amalfi, the cathedral and the historic harbour visible from deck. Optional stop ashore.

Slow ride back

Westward in the late-afternoon light, aperitivo on board, the cliffs turning gold. Back in Sorrento or Positano around seven.
